OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf0000 ICTO Base Units
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought this laptop less than 2 years ago for my wife.

A few months back she started noticing the laptop would turn off without any notification that the battery was low. When she would plug it in, it would allow her to boot it, and would show about 15% battery. So she just assumed that the battery was preserving itself by going into a sleep mode.

About two months ago, she started noticing the fans would start getting loud, and then it would shut down, and then she would need to plug in to boot again, but the fans would still be loud.

A month ago, this everything above happened again. But this time the laptop wouldn't boot at all. She brought this to my attention and I tried to hard reset the laptop. I unplugged the laptop, and held the power button for a minute. Then plugged it in and turn on the power, nothing. I tried this about 5 times to no change.

I decided I needed to unplug the battery, so I opened the back of the laptop, unplugged the battery, closed the back, pushed the power button down for 1 minute, and then plugged in the laptop. It booted, got to the log in screen, and logged in, got to the home screen. I called my wife over to get the external hard drive to back up her data. When I looked away to do this, the laptop must've shut down. So I tried this process again, and this time it didn't boot. I tried about 5 different times over the next few days and no change.

A week ago I brought the laptop to a repair person, he ended up with the same issues. He came to the conclusion that it was most likely the motherboard, but he didn't have a replacement because it was a laptop.

I came here to ask if HP does replacement motherboards, or if this has happened to anyone before. I'm wondering if it could also be a CPU issue, as I've heard Intel chip series 13000 and 14000 have had instability issues.

I would really like to get this fixed vs buying new, as this laptop cost $1,300, and most of that cost is the Intel® Core™ i7-13700HX and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4060 Laptop GPU
