I bought it over 2 years ago now so I don't believe it is. I 'd  pay for repairs if I have to though, as opposed to just throwing a £2k laptop in the bin

Thank mate. Any idea where I can find a legitimate battery though? I've tried before with no luck

Hello Oni1521,

go to HP Partsurfer:

https://partsurfer.hp.com/

You have to enter the correct identification of your Omen17, then will find the battery section.

Take the "spare part number", this is the key to find replacement batteries with your favorite search engine on your favorite website (ebay, amazon, ... )

That's it !

Hello Oni1521,

(1) Does the your notebook have a charge indicator lamp as standard ? Orange, white, off ?

(2) When the charger is plugged in, what light does the led has ?

(3) Do you have a multimeter to check the voltage (V) of the charger plug ( - is outside, + is inside ) ? Set multimeter to direct current (DC) mode.

Please report your results.

1) Yes it does. It's normally orange whilst charging and then white when it is at full battery

2) No light at all at the moment

3) No I don't have a multimeter

Hello Oni1521,

if your notebook is dead, it could well be that your mainboard has a short circuit. This happens very often ! Do you have a very good notebook ( chip level ! ) repair store around the corner ? Unfortunately, most stores want to sell a new device and do not do any meaningful repairs.

Please report your results.
