When starting up laptop, I get the hp logo and then my background image appears with time and date in lower left corner. However when I click enter to go to log in screen, the date and time disappear, the image enlarges about 5% and darkens and I do not get login screen. In the lower right corner is 3 icons to check internet connection, ease of connection and shut down appear and after 15-30 secs the screen returns to date and time with normal image.
Running windows 10 64 bit. No new installations or peripherals.
Please advise

Jeet,
Thanx for all your efforts but after not having recovery discs available, I bought a Windows 10 disc for new install and guess what, can't install it on the HP notebook I have because hard drive is not formatted properly and I can't reformat it to reinstall windows 10.
Computer is only 2 years old and last HP I will ever purchase. It is second HP that crapped out on me 1 year after warranty and can't be recovered. I'm tired of filling landfill with worthless HP computers so I'm moving on.
Best of luck to you. Thanx again for your efforts but I'm done.

Hi @Spudjer,
Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I see from the post that you are having issues with the computer no longer boots into Windows anymore. Don't worry as I have a few steps which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the PC before the issue started?
Was there any update/reset interrupted recently?
When was the last time it worked (date)?
Have you reset System Configuration to normal boot (remove the check from safe mode)?
In the meantime, let's start off by performing a Hard Reset on the notebook:
Next thing, I would suggest here is to boot the computer into the safe mode and check if there is a check box next to safe mode, using this link.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Jeet,
Thanx for your time on this matter.
Have you recently made any changes on the PC before the issue started?
No changes made
Was there any update/reset interrupted recently?
there was an update on 5/25/17 and 5/31/17 uninterrupted
When was the last time it worked (date)?
5/31/17
Have you reset System Configuration to normal boot (remove the check from safe mode)?
I can only boot in safe mode.
Where is the check box next to safe mode found? This is my wifes computer, I run a MAC.
I have tried hard reset, system diagnostics and system restore to 5/31/17, 5/25/17 and automatic restore date of 5/20/17 but can only boot up in safe mode. I used command prompt to remove from safe mode and still have my original problem. When running advanced repair, the repair fails.
Thank you for your response in advance.

Hi The_Fossett
I just did a hard reset again, no luck.
I tried to run system diagnostics but can't. I get" system check command file improperly formatted or missing"message.
I was however able to run diagnostics a few days ago at Jeets reccomendation and everything passed. Now I can't run it.
I can run in safe mode but that's it.
I tried recovery back to dates 5/31/17 (last time computer worked), 5/25/17 and 5/20/17 but no luck. 5/31 and 5/25 dates showed critical windows update, 5/20 was automatic recovery date.
Please advise. Thanx
