Hi @Cicirayos,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop is not turning on properly and you're only seeing a yellow light when it's plugged in, along with the Caps Lock light coming on when pressed, but the screen remains black, there could be several potential issues causing this problem. Here's what you can try.

  • Hard Reset: Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve minor hardware glitches. To perform a hard reset, disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if it's removable), and hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter (leave the battery out for now) and try turning on the laptop again.
  • Check Power Adapter and Connections: Ensure that the power adapter is securely plugged into both the laptop and the power outlet. Also, check for any visible damage to the power cord or adapter. Try using a different power outlet or adapter if possible to rule out issues with the power source.
  • Battery Issues: If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it and powering on the laptop with just the power adapter connected. If it turns on without the battery, the battery might be faulty and need replacement.
  • Display Issues: The black screen could be due to a problem with the display or its connections. Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable (depending on the available ports on your laptop) to see if you get any display on the external screen. If you do, it suggests an issue with the laptop's internal display or its connections.
  • Memory/RAM Issues: Faulty RAM can also cause a laptop to not boot properly. Try reseating the RAM modules (if accessible) or testing them one at a time in different slots to see if the laptop boots up.
  • Hardware Failure: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there's a more serious hardware problem such as a faulty motherboard, CPU, or other internal component.

By systematically checking these components and troubleshooting steps, you can hopefully identify and resolve the issue causing your HP laptop not to turn on properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
