Hi @Sauro061782,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it is when your HP laptop takes a long time to start and shows a black screen with a cursor before loading Windows. This issue can feel like your system is stuck or broken, but it’s often caused by a few common factors, and we’re here to help you fix it

The black screen with a cursor during startup is usually related to:

  • Corrupted system files
  • Fast Startup conflicts
  • Display driver issues
  • Windows Explorer is not loading properly
  • Startup app overload

Steps to Resolve

1. Disable Fast Startup

Fast Startup can cause boot delays and black screens.

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup
  • Save changes and restart

2. Run System File Checker

This will repair corrupted system files.

  • Press Windows + X, then select Windows Terminal (Admin)
  • Type: sfc /scannow
  • Press Enter and wait for the scan to complete

3. Update Display Drivers

Outdated or corrupted display drivers can cause black screen issues.

  • Go to Device Manager > Display adapters
  • Right-click your graphics driver and select Update driver
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers

Alternatively, download the latest driver from HP’s support page:

4. Clean Boot Your System

This helps identify if a startup app is causing the delay.

  • Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter
  • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all
  • Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager
  • Disable all startup items
  • Restart your laptop

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
