HP laptop model 17-by4013dx. Upon turning on I get a black screen, Boot Manager, Windows failed to start. I ran system test which resulted in Hard Drive/SSD SMART Check FAILED. FAILURE ID: PU13SK-ASJD4G-MFGH4K-60B203. PRODUCT ID: 4J8C8UA#ABA

You will need to install a new NVMe SSD and reinstall the operating system.

 

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the M.2 SSD removal and replacement procedure.

 

HP 17 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide

 

You don't need to replace the failed drive with a 256 GB storage capacity.

 

You can go with a larger storage capacity such as 1 TB if you want.

 

Use the HP cloud recovery tool on another PC to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will restore the original HP factory software image on the new drive.
