Hi @BubsBrownin

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your PC is stuck in a boot loop during the installation process after a reset, which can happen for several reasons. The issue you're experiencing could be caused by corrupt system files, incomplete installation, or a hardware-related issue.

Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes a simple hard reset can help resolve issues where the PC is stuck in a boot loop.

  • Turn off your PC completely Unplug the power cable from the PC.
  • Remove any external devices like USB drives, printers, or peripherals.Press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds to drain any remaining power.
  • Plug your PC back in and try powering it on.

2. Boot into Safe Mode

You can try to boot into Safe Mode to see if the computer can load with minimal drivers, which may allow you to troubleshoot further.

  • Turn off the PC.Turn it back on and immediately press the F8 key repeatedly (or the Shift + F8 key combination on newer PCs) to open the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  • From here, select Safe Mode and press Enter.
  • If the system boots into Safe Mode, try running Windows Troubleshooter or System Restore to restore to a previous working state.

3. Access BIOS/UEFI Settings

If you're unable to get past the HP welcome screen, try accessing the BIOS (UEFI) settings and check for any issues with boot settings or the system’s storage.

  • Turn off your PC.Turn it back on, and immediately press Esc or F10 (depending on your PC model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  • In the BIOS, check the boot order to ensure the primary hard drive (where Windows is installed) is selected as the first boot device.
  • Also, check if Secure Boot is enabled. Sometimes, turning off Secure Boot can help with boot issues.
  • If everything looks correct, save the settings and exit the BIOS.

4. Repair Windows Using Installation Media

If you're stuck at the installation screen and can't move past it, you can try to use a Windows installation USB or DVD to repair the system.

  • Create a bootable USB drive with Windows installation media using the Windows Media Creation Tool on another computer (you can download it from Microsoft's website).
  • Insert the bootable USB drive into your PC and restart.
  • Once it boots from the USB, you should see the Windows Setup screen. Select Repair your computer at the bottom.
  • From the troubleshooting options, select Startup Repair. Windows will attempt to automatically detect and fix any issues with the boot process.

5. Reinstall Windows (if necessary)

If you’re still unable to get past the installation screen, you may need to reinstall Windows completely. If you already performed a reset, this is a more in-depth reinstallation process.

  • Follow the same steps as in Step 4 using the Windows installation USB.
  • Choose the option to Install Windows, but this time during the installation process, make sure to choose the "Custom Installation" option, and delete the partitions on the hard drive where Windows was previously installed (this will wipe the system clean).
  • Proceed with a fresh installation.

6. Check for Hardware Issue

I hope this helps.
