Hi,
I've got a pavilion g6-2240sa which won't boot, it gets to the hp logo and freezes. I've tried a new hard drive and installing windows from a bootable usb but it still freezes at the hp logo. I've tried system recovery but that also freezes. I've ran hardware checks and they all passed.
I'm wondering if this is a bios issue? The current bios is F.15 , is there a newer version i can upgrade to? Also would i be able to upgrade it from a bootable usb?
Thanks,
Pete

I've found this page on the HP website which has a bios update for g6-2200 series laptops
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-g6-2200-notebook-pc-series/5296082
Is this compatible with my g6-2240sa? I couldn't find a page for that specific model.
Thanks,
Pete

Hi @peter762033,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
As I understand, you have trouble with the Pc I would suggest you try the BIOS Restore on the Pc to try and fix the issue, Once the device is back, you can use the same link that you have and update to the latest BIOS that was released in 2016, which should also help.
BIOS Restore :
1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Vikram,
Thanks for your reply. I performed the bios restore but I'm still having the same issues.
I then downloaded the bios (filename: sp77491.exe) that was released in 2016 for AMD processors and tried to make a bootable usb. When I run the bios file i dont get the option to create a bootable usb, instead I get a program called Insydeflash which doesn't have that option.
Please can you help me to create the bootable usb to load the bios?
Thanks,
Pete

Hi @peter762033,
Thank you for your patience and effort so far. We completely understand how frustrating and exhausting it can be when even after following the steps carefully, the BIOS issue persists and you're stuck trying to create a bootable USB.
Sharing the link that has step-by-step instructions on creating and fixing the boot Issue. Please do try, and let me know.

Hi Vikram,
Thank you for the link, I've tried all of the options but I'm still having the same problem.
Is there a way I can make a bootable USB with the latest bios? As mentioned before when I try to make the USB I get the insyde flash program which won't allow me to make a boot able USB.
Thanks,
Pete
