Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello

MY laptop has been stuck in an automatic repair loop for weeks now it wont load.

I've done a diagnostic test and it has said all is ok.. ive tried to do a system restore (f11) but idt crashes and restarts the pc back to the loop agan with hp logo.

There is no option for safe mode and i cant get past the automatic repair screen that stays on 0%...

on one the forums it said to buy a  cd rom of the origanal windows 8.1 and try booting that to install changed the settings to boot from cdrom first.

the pc starts loading then crashes again...

can't seem to find anyone on any forum that one of the previous options has not worked for so im stumped any help would be greatly recived.

thanks

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

Use this guide to find that information...Please do not post the serial number.

Hi:

Since the hardware tests passed, here is a way you can clean install W8.1 for free by using the W8 product key in your notebook's BIOS.

Install W8.1 by creating the Microsoft installation media, using another Windows PC, since yours is not working...You want W8.1 64 bit.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, use this generic key.

This is the generic key for W8.1 'Standard.'

334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT

If you don't need to recover any files, when you get to the screen that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space. Click Next, and W8.1 should begin to install.

If you want to recover files, at the above step, install Windows over the current Windows partition, and it will create a Windows.old folder.  After W8.1 installs, you can explore the Windows.old folder, find your old user profile and copy and paste your user folders and files to the new Windows installation.

If you had to enter the generic key, manually change the generic product key to the W8 key in your PC's BIOS in the PC settings menu.

After you get W8.1 installed, and you had to manually enter the W8.1 generic product key, you will need to run the free utility I zipped up and attached below, that will show you show the W8 product key in your PC's BIOS.

I have also zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft tool which hopefully will transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so it is bootable.

Then you can install the available drivers and software from your PC's support page.

Hello paul..

I have tried what you have said. Tried to boot from my Toshiba usb drive after following your instruction about creating a bootable device. Unfortunatly it looks like it starts to load then the laptop turns off and reboots before i can get any further its now reloaded with the hp screen and the swearling dots. Is there anything else i need to change in the system digonstics before trying again ?  or do i just give up lol

Hi:

Did you test the flash drive in another PC to see if it boots to load W8.1?

You can cancel out of the installation, so no need to be concerned.

If you know the media was created successfully, plug the flash drive into your ailing notebook.

Turn it on or restart it, and immediately start tapping the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu and from that, select the USB flash drive, and press the Enter key.

The PC should boot from the flash drive and begin to load the W8.1 installation files.

If that doesn't work, then unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions for you to try.

Hi paul

We only have a lenovo pc and a chomre book. the chrome book wont do it and Lovano pc im not aloud to try to check the drive on as its mum work pc she wont let me

Thats the way ive been trying to do it through f9 button, no worries im going to cut my losses and bin the laptop. its out of warranty and no one else knows how to fix it without it causing me the cost of a new one so i think im going to do that. I've reinstalled so many other pc;s before and never had these issues.

Thanks for your support
