You can give us a more complete description of what the problem is. Don't expect anything that fits in one or two sentences to be enough, and don't expect telling us how much you want an answer to make much difference.

On my laptop (a different model), there is a row of lighted symbols at the top of the keyboard. Pressing on one of them turns the touchpad (which moves the cursor) off or on. Does your keyboard have something similar?
I haven't seen anything similar for turning the keyboard off and on.

Thank you for showing your interest in the HP Forums,
I’d like to help 🙂
I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution:
What exactly are you have trouble doing?
When was the last time it worked (Date) ?
What is the product number of your computer ? (Ensure you do not share any personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Have you attempted any step to resolve the issue on your own before posting on the HP Forums?
Eager to help you,
Regards,

Thank you for replying,
As I understand you are using an alternate keyboard as that is working, however, the inbuilt keyboard is not working,
To confirm, is it that none of the keys on the inbuilt keyboard work or does some keys work?
I would suggest you to run a hardware test on the keyboard using the hardware diagnostics tool: Click here
Capture the hardware test failure ID : XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX
And contact the HP Phone support for a replacement keyboard (Free of charge, if your computer is covered by the warranty)
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:
http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
