HP ENVY x360 - m6-ar004dx (ENERGY STAR)

The USB port on the left side of my laptop has always been a bit faulty; but recently, not even my power button seems to respond to being pressed and my laptop won't turn on. Other than a random power off when I was using it last that took a moment to turn back on and booted into an update installation, the function has been normal and I'm not sure why this is happening.

I've tried doing a hard reset, among other things I have found online to try to turn it back on, but none seem to work. This doesn't seem to be a battery issue because the charging LED will turn on and my USB extender's lights will turn on if I connect it to the USB port connected to the motherboard:

Oddly enough, the power LED will turn on if it touches the metal hinge or I hold the microchip in a specific way as long as the ribbon cable and battery are connected.

So, the problem seems related to this one microchip and/or the ribbon cable connecting it to the motherboard. I ordered a voltmeter to test the currents to try to get more information about what's going on; but, if anyone has any ideas about what the problem might be or knows how I can turn my laptop on in the meantime, I'd really appreciate any help I can get.
