Hi all,
I would like to inquiry regarding with hp security policy. I purchased HP Elitebook 820 G3 last over 1 year ago with 3 years warranty. I used power on authentication option since I purchased. I used both bios administrator password and user login password at power on auth. Last time I cannot login even I type correctly after migrate my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10. When I search in this community, I found the solution that is can reset with ".bin" file which can get if I give my information. So I send email to related person from HP and he reply "Only change motherboard option" is solution for me and he also reply "Bios password is not recommend to setup" . So I went to Service Center and solution is same. I am not complaining about my mistake (but it's not actually), I just want to know is
REALLY HP NOT RECOMMEND TO SET BIOS PASSWORD in their products?
AND
MOTHERBOARD REPLACEMENT is only option for this issue?
Thanks for your time

Hi:
Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.
That was the only way it could be done.
HP issued this document recently...

Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.
Rule 4.d...
