My Compaq Presario CQ56 has been unused for a long time. I tried to recover it, for kids, but it does not turn on. AC adapter works. At least, it gives 13,9 volts on its pins.
At first, AC adapter led (at the right side) glew white, then orange, and then started blinking orange. I left all night long charging but the led continued blinking orange.
Then, I disconnect the AC power and remove the battery. Then connect AC power (without the battery). Led glew white but the notebook did not turn on.
Then, I replaced the battery, plugged the AC power adapter again. Pressed power button. Nothing. Pressed the power button for a while. AC power led started blinking orange.
After reading some posts, I did a hard reset. Remove battery and AC power. Press the power button 20 secs 3 times. Then replace the battery and AC adapter and intended to turn on the computer. Nothing, but now, AC power adapter led GLOWS white permanently.
Any other led blink. No beeps. Any clue?
Battery is really old. But I´m not sure it´s just the sole problem. I would not like to buy a new battery just to check. 😉
Thanks a lot!
