Laptop was assigned to an employee that has since left the company. I was provided with the hard drive password, which works fine, however in order to change or remove that password i need access to the Bios Administrator password which apparently isn't correct, or obviously unknown.
When I enter the p/w incorrectly three times, I am presented with an on-screen keyboard (with extended character set).
When I press <Enter> I'm presented with a screen titled
Authentication Failed
System Locked
Press the power button to restart the syatem
If I remember correctly, this laptop batch (we purchased 7 of these) is approximately five years old, so they are obviously outside the warranty period.
The system information screen indicates that the serial number is CNU3299829, but the HP web site has no record of the serial number. The warranty start date indicates 00/00/0000. The bios version is 68ICE Ver. F.62 and the date is 04/07/2015. If I need to provide any additional information in order to get this problem resolved, I'll be glad to share.

Just to followup....I received a PM from HP Support stating I needed to call in order to resolve the problem. I proceeded to follow the instruction given in the PM and made the call. The tech support person assured me that he could help and after gathering basic information about the PC (model, product number, bios version, etc) and quizzing me about why I needed the Bios Administrator password reset, he comes back and informs me that it will cost me $175 to proceed. Of course, I can't authorize any charges, so the call terminated at that point.
In the future, instead of putting the customer through a worthless, time consuming dog and pony show after which they are informed of a charge to provide help, just be up front and let the customer decide whether the cost is worth the time and effort to proceed any farther. The seven laptops I have are five years old and were going to be re-purposed as test machines or check out machines. The 7 machines I have aren't worth the cost of the repair.
