I have a HP Victus laptop and it is not starting. There was a cumulative update which failed a lot of times and curropted some files that can't be fixed by both DISM and SFC scans. Now it curropted the windows and it doesn't even start, it shows error code 0x000001 and even sometimes stuck in restart loop.

@RT2248, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing startup issues with your HP Victus laptop following a failed cumulative Windows update. Based on the error code 0x0000001 and the symptoms you've described (restart loop, corrupted system files), here are some steps you can follow to recover your system:

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a hard reset can clear temporary corruption:

  • Power off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect all external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and try turning it on.

Boot into Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)

If the system doesn't boot normally:

  • Power on the laptop and force shut down (hold power button) as soon as the HP logo appears.
  • Repeat this 3 times to trigger WinRE.
  • On the Choose an option screen, select:
    • Troubleshoot > Advanced options.

Use System Restore (if available)

  • In Advanced options, choose System Restore.
  • Select a restore point before the update issue began.

Run Startup Repair

If System Restore is unavailable or fails:

  • Go to Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Let Windows attempt to fix the startup issue.

Use HP Diagnostics to Check Hardware

Corruption can sometimes be linked to hardware issues:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run System Tests and Hard Drive Tests.

Reinstall Windows (if all else fails)

If DISM and SFC scans failed and Windows is unbootable:

  • Back up data if possible using a bootable USB or external enclosure.
  • Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool or Windows Media Creation Tool to reinstall Windows.

Additional Tips

  • After reinstalling, update all drivers from the HP Victus Support Page.
  • Disable automatic driver updates temporarily to avoid recurrence.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
