Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear HP Support Team,

I am seeking assistance regarding an issue with my HP Notebook after a recent motherboard replacement. The serial number, model, and other critical identifiers are missing from the BIOS and system settings. This has resulted in startup errors, though the laptop is functioning correctly otherwise.

Device Details:

  • Model: HP Notebook (as per my records; unconfirmed in BIOS)
  • Serial Number: [Unknown]
  • Product Number: [Unknown]
  • UUID: 6E8FDB7D7C4F11E590ABDC4A3E16E5A7

Issue Summary:

After the motherboard replacement, the following details are missing:

  1. Serial Number
  2. Model Number
  3. Product Number

I attempted to use the HP BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) to input the missing details, but the process failed with errors related to invalid input.

Request:

I kindly request your guidance and support to:

  1. Provide the correct format and necessary details for re-entering the missing information.
  2. Assist with tools or utilities required to restore the serial number and model in the BIOS.
  3. Help resolve any startup errors caused by these missing details.

Please let me know if you need additional details or proof of ownership to process my request.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Sheikh Owias

The service that replaced the motherboard should have programmed the new motherboard with that information.

This tool (very poorly described below) is used to do the branding.

https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HP_BCU.html

Once installed it goes into the folder C:\SWSetup\sp143621

To find out exactly what your current motherboard is you would run

BiosConfigUtility64 /get:config.txt

and use notepad to look at the file and make changes.

I recommend you contact the service that did the replacement and find out what the new values are supposed to be and have them do the branding.
