Hi @109085
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're happy to have you on board!
To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please share the model name of your device?
Need help finding your product number? We've got you covered! Check out this handy guide:
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_2039298-1862169-16
Meanwhile, you can refer to the following link to resolve the issue:

This error, “Sign‑in option is disabled because of failed sign-in attempts or repeated shutdowns”, typically means Windows has temporarily locked your PIN (or chosen method) due to perceived security risks. Even if you didn’t try to log in repeatedly, glitches or abrupt power-offs can trigger this behavior.
Wait It Out (Temporary Lockout)
Windows will automatically re-enable the locked sign-in option after 2 hours of continuous powered-on time.
Make sure your device stays on (connected to power if a laptop). After 2 hours, your PIN should work again.
Use a Different Sign-In Method
Look for the Sign-in options link on the lock screen:
- Try logging in with your Microsoft account password, or
- A biometric method (if available).
If you don’t know your password, use the “I forgot my PIN” or “I forgot my password” link to reset it.
Reset PIN from Login Screen
- Click the Power icon on the lock screen.
- Select Sleep mode.
- Wake the system, and the lock screen should reappear with more options.
- Select “I forgot my PIN”, follow prompts to verify your identity, and create a new PIN.
We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!
Best regards,
I'm an HP Employee.
