Smart disk error

HP Recommended

Hello I haven't had my hp laptop long, my computer was fine until recently. It first was starting out slow, so I thought I could restart my computer and it'll be ok, then that when it started to act weird and give me pop ups like update.exe, so I waited out to see what would happen, then it showed a blue screen of a sad face emoticon and it shut it self off, and then turned back on saying while loading 'preparing automatic repair' and then it changed to 'repairing disk error, this might take an hour to complete.' So I went to the internet to the internet for help, they told me to force it on and off which I've done and I don't think that's done anything, I don't want to spend money to get it fixed when I can find a more cheaper and less stressful solution, Please help.
