A while ago, it showed that I had TPM 2.0 on my HP 15 da0011la when I ran tpm.msc, and Windows Update gave me the option to upgrade to Windows 11, which I didn't do at the time. Today, when I went to install Windows 11, it said it wasn't compatible, and surprise, surprise, msc says I don't have it. msc says I don't have it. I remember receiving BIOS updates, which changed the machine ID, so HP Support Assistant no longer recognizes it as my PC. It's practically a totally different PC with the same characteristics.

Please don't respond with a guide on how to enable TPM in the BIOS because it's not actually there thanks to your BIOS updates.

Hi @eaaldark,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it must be to see your HP 15-da0011la laptop lose TPM 2.0 support after a BIOS update, especially when it previously showed compatibility with Windows 11 and now no longer does.

Recommended Steps

1. Restore BIOS Defaults

Even if TPM settings are not visible, restoring defaults may re-enable Intel PTT.

Steps:

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Press F9 to Load Setup Defaults.
  3. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  4. After reboot, check tpm.msc again.

2. Update HP Support Assistant

If your machine ID changed, HP Support Assistant may not recognize it.

If the issue persists, you can manually enter your product name or serial number to restore recognition.

3. Check for TPM Under Security Settings

In BIOS, TPM may be listed as Intel Platform Trust Technology. If visible, ensure it is enabled.

If the option is missing, it may have been removed in the current BIOS version.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
