Dear Customer,

Please try to Restore BIOS default settings

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 key to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Using the arrow keys select Yes and then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
If the computer restarts normally and the error message does not display, you are done.
  7. If the error message displays, proceed to the next step.

Test the hard drive using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI enables you to test the main components on your computer by selecting quick tests or longer, more complete tests. You can use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI even if the computer does not open to Windows.
If you think there is a problem with the hard drive, first try the Quick Test (about ten minutes). If the Quick Test does not find a problem, run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more).

  1. Plug the AC adapter into the computer.
  2. Press the Power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  3. Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.
  4. When the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI screen displays, click Component Tests.

  5. Click Hard Drive.

  6. Click Quick Test.

    Hard Drive Tests: Quick Test
  7. Click Run once. If the computer has more than one hard drive, click Test All Hard Drives.
    The Quick Test begins.
  8. When the test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen. Test results are also available under Test Logs on the Diagnostics UEFI main page.
If the hard drive passes the Quick Test, proceed to the next step to run the Extensive Test. This test includes the SMART Check, Short DST, Optimized DST, and Long DST. Continue following these steps to run the Extensive Test.
  9. Click Main Menu, and then click Component Tests.
  10. Click Hard Drive.
  11. Click Extensive Test.
  12. Click Run once. If the computer has more than one hard drive, click Test All Hard Drives.

    The Extensive Test begins.

  13. When the Extensive Test is complete the results are displayed on the screen. If the hard drive fails one of the tests, write down the specific failure information. The information is also available under Test Logs on the Diagnostics UEFI main menu.
If the test fails, the hard drive might need to be replaced. Contact HP using the Contact Support tab at the top of this screen.

When I press F10 I enter the BIOS and there, I can not find any Tab called "Advanced or Diagnostic test", neither in the Main Tabs " MAIN ;  Security ; System Configuration " nor in the Sub-tab "Boot Options"

but when I press F2 I will be lead to system Diagnostics, where there is a HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI Version 1.6.0.0 BIOS. At this point I can only make a Meomry Test or a Hard Drive check is that what I should be doing ?

friendly regards

You will have to run Harddrive Test. But before that as suggested did you try to restore BIOS to defaults.

If you have not then please restore BIOS to defaults first and then Run Harddrive Test.

I have reset all to default and then run the hardrive test, as soon as the message starting Hard drive Test appeared, another page appeared stating that " SMART Check : NOT AVAILABLE ;  Long DST : NOT AVAILABLE"

so it does not actually run the hard drive test at all !!

what shall i do in this case ?

HP Recommended

Harddrive is not being detected or recognised.

Please try  to reseat the Harddrive. Once done try to run the test again.

Thank You,
