Hi @JayZ3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion x360 is stuck on the HP logo screen with the message "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu," it indicates that the laptop is having trouble completing the startup process. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

**1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect All Peripherals: Remove any external devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.).
  • Remove Battery and Power Adapter:
    1. Unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
    2. Remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Discharge Residual Power:
    1. Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect Battery and Power Adapter:
    1. Reinsert the battery.
    2. Plug in the AC adapter.
    3. Power on the laptop.

**2. Access the Startup Menu

  • Press the ESC Key:
    • When you see the HP logo, press the ESC key repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu. If you’re able to access the menu, try the following options:
      • F2 (System Diagnostics): Run hardware diagnostics to check for issues.
      • F10 (BIOS Setup): Check BIOS settings and ensure that the boot order is correct.
      • F11 (System Recovery): If available, use System Recovery to troubleshoot or reset the laptop.

**3. Check BIOS Settings

  • Enter BIOS Setup:
    1. Restart the laptop and press F10 (or ESC and then F10) to enter BIOS.
    2. Ensure that the boot order is correctly set, with the internal hard drive listed as the primary boot device.
  • Check for Errors:
    • Look for any error messages or warnings in BIOS related to the hard drive or other components.

**4. Test with Minimal Hardware Configuration

  • Reseat Components:
    • If you’re comfortable, open the laptop and reseat the RAM and storage drives to ensure they are properly connected.
  • Remove Additional Hardware:
    • Test with minimal hardware (only essential components like one stick of RAM and internal storage) to rule out faulty hardware.

**5. Try Safe Mode or Recovery Options

  • Safe Mode:
    • If you can get into the Startup Menu, select F8 or Shift + F8 (for some models) to attempt booting into Safe Mode.
  • System Recovery:
    • Use the System Recovery options from the Startup Menu or BIOS to repair the operating system or restore to a previous state.

**6. Check for Hard Drive Issues

  • Run Diagnostics:
    • Use the built-in diagnostics tools (accessed via F2 in the Startup Menu) to check the health of your hard drive.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
