The Toshiba HD in this laptop crashed and I purchased a WD Black 1TB replacement. It was originally Win 8.1, upgraded to Win 10 Home. I wanted to upgrade to a clean install of Win 10 Pro, so bought a OEM package with flash media. When I try to boot it to the installation flash media, it won't recognize the flash drive. I've disabled secure boot, enabled legacy boot, tried everything I've found in the forums. Pressing F9 to enter the boot manager and selecting boot from efi file results in a screen with no choices. The BIOS boot order menu shows boot from USB CD ROM or boot from USB HD, neither of which works. I'm at wits end, I suppose which makes me witless. Do I need to return the Win 10 package and get one on CDs, and buy an external CD USB CD player? I can't believe this isn't working. What am I missing?

Tapping F9 the flash drive usually would show up as usb hdd. I know those Windows 8 laptops are a pain sometimes to coax into booting from media but I don't think a dvd would do any better. I would probably try making another flash drive using the free Media Creation Tool at Microsoft site. It will work with the key you purchased. At least 8gb flash drive required.

Thank you, thank you so much. It's working just like you said off of the "alternate" flash drive. I just can't thank you enough. I thought I was going to have to throw this one away.

Many models in the 800 series. I can only suggest to Uninstall the audio driver and reinstall using latest from your Support page. Select your model here:

And it worked. The driver from April, 2017 settled the problem.
