Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 (2V8U8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

As i turned on my notebook i accidentally pressed the F2 button (allegedly) and it went on to start as the UEFI diagnostic tool suite.

The first thing that popped up was a screen asking for permission to use my data. It showed a link and QR code taking me to a privacy page on the HP website.

It only showed two options, "yes" and "no", and the only indication of what option was i choosing was it either being grey (turned off) or black (selected). So i obviously switched to the "no" button and pressed enter.

Then, on the next screen where i was prompted to choose disgnostic tool, all the options but one were presented as black, and the option i was currently selecting was presented as gray.

In other words, i "chose" to share my information with HP.

I DO NOT WANT TO SHARE MY INFORMATION WITH HP.

I wish to know how can i revoke that permission. There is nowhere i can do that within the UEFI diagnostic tool suite.

Hi @xElMerYx,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's understandable that you want to correct a mistake made due to confusing UI/UX design. Here are some steps you can take to revoke the permission you accidentally granted in the UEFI diagnostics:

Restart the UEFI Diagnostics Tool:

  • Reboot your notebook and enter the UEFI diagnostics tool again by pressing the F2 key during startup.
  • Look for an option to adjust settings or preferences within the tool. Sometimes, these tools include the ability to change previously set privacy preferences.

Check HP's Website for Account Settings:

• If you have an HP account, log in on the HP website and check for any privacy settings or data-sharing options. Sometimes, permissions can be managed through your online account.

Review Privacy Policy:

  • Look at the privacy policy linked in the UEFI diagnostics tool. It may have specific instructions on how to manage data sharing settings or whom to contact to make changes.

Check for Software Updates:

  • Occasionally, firmware or software updates can include improvements to the user interface, which might make it easier to manage these settings. Check if there are any available updates for your notebook's firmware or the UEFI tool.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
