I was given an old EliteBook 8560p laptop with the hard drive purged. So I decided to install Ubuntu on it since I'm already familiar with the OS and it's free. But there's something with the boot not getting detected (0F3 BootDevice not found). Usually, this has to do with the UEFI, Secure boot and/or Fast boot, so the next step was to check the BIOS settings. But now the problem is I can't seem to enter the BIOS settings at all. It always redirects me to the 'System Diagnostics' screen where every test passes. Tried the reset BIOS by unplugging the RTC Battery, etc but nothing is working.

Did they somehow 'bricked' the laptop by purging the hard drive?
Is there a way to prevent the 'System Diagnostics' and go straight into the BIOS?
Do I need to install Windows to make the system detect a boot device so I can go into the BIOS and such so that I can then 'dual boot' if I want to run Ubuntu?
