I have purchased a new HP Pavilion laptop which shipped with FreeDos, I´m now trying to install Windows 11 and get as farv as the partition to install on but the partition is of an unknown type. How do I mount the partition or access the disk management capability on the laptop?

That is the full model number or product number of the notebook?
Is it that Windows cannot find any drives to install on?
If so, and if your notebook has an Intel 11th gen or newer core processor, you have to load the Intel storage controller drivers so Windows can find the drive.
I zipped up and attached those storage controller files below.
The attached file is good for both W10 & W11.
Copy all of the files in both folders in the attached file to a USB flash drive.
Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.
Boot from the W11 installation flash drive.
When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.
Click Next, and W11 should install.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the quick response, that works as far as loading and seeing the drivers. I checked the box, however it didn´t show any compatible drivers, when its unchecked I can see all the drivers, not sure which to select, any advice on which should be selected if its done manually? Thanks

You're very welcome.
What model notebook do you have?
What is the full description of the Intel processor it comes with?
If it is an Intel 14th gen core processor, it may need a newer driver than the one I gave you.

Hi Paul,
The notebook model is HP Pavilion 15-fd0133ns
Processor is 12th Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-1255u
I'm attempting to install from an ISO disk image not sure if that makes a difference, I´m guessing not as the partition is in DOS rather than windows
Just tried it again to make sure I've followed your instructions correctly but it doesn´t recognise any of the drivers
Thanks for your help

Hi:
The storage drivers I gave you should have worked for the 12th gen core processors, so I don't know what the problem could be.
I suggest that you use the Microsoft media creation tool to automatically create a W11 USB installation flash drive from the link below (2nd option) and see if that works with the drivers I gave you. You need an 8 GB USB flash drive for this.
