HP ProBook 445 G8 Notebook PC IDS Base Model

Hi,

I've recently bought a ProBook 445 G8 from an enterprise refurbishment reseller to replace my older Pavilion laptop. The laptop works fine in general after transplanting the SSD from the old laptop, though last night when I tried to have a look at the UEFI settings on the machine found that there's a password lock on the configuration (but not required for regular boot).

The seller has sent me a list of possible passwords to try of which one might work, though after some web searching I've done I am concerned that if I enter the wrong one three times my currently perfectly working laptop will end up locking down and refusing to boot (the "System Disabled" message I'm seeing pop up in searches). Is this a thing that might happen, or will the wrong BIOS/UEFI password only lock me out of the UEFI settings given there's no password required for power-on/boot?

I don't *need* to enter the UEFI settings at this point so I'd be perfectly happy just leaving it as is, but would prefer if I *could* unlock the settings.
