Compaq Presario CQ56-219WM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Factory Setup:  Windows 7 Home 64 bit   Bios Version: F.15 4/7/2011

Current Setup:  Windows 10 HOme 64 Bit

Bios Version Available from HP F.15 4/25/2011

Questions:

1. Can I upgrade to this BIOS?

2. There was obviously a problem of some sort with version f.15 4/7/2011 which required an upgrade, but but is it even worth upgrading?

Sorry, but I don't have very good news for you ...

The BIOS update you referenced is for Win7 -- and unfortunately, you have upgraded your PC to Win10.

HP makes their BIOS updates OS-version specific, so if you try to run it under Win10, it's most likely going to fail to run or error out.

Thank you for that solution - I don't look at this as a negative though. Given what this laptop is being used for, basically more as a desktop instead of a notebook, changes and the like on a computer this old (8+ years) only goes to tell me, "But a new computer:   Thank you again.
