Example: Pavilion x360 Convertible

My computer recieved some kind of what I assume was a windows update.  I did a 'shut down/update from windows menu.  Now, when I bott up the laptop, I get "the selected boot device failed. Press <enter> to Continue".   When I press <Enter>, the laptop powers off.   I found a way to possible fix this but I need to press F11 at startup and that doesn't work.  I can get to BIOS screen.  F9 default and changing boot option to Legacy does not fix it.  Ran the quick system checks and everything is fine.    Any advice?
