Hp victus e1112ax
Microsoft Windows 11

Pretty much the same with this

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/HP-Victus-15-reboots-automatically/td-p/95968...

The only way I can use my laptop is having idle=poll (busywait) when using linux, I am using the latest bios version

I wanted to use windows but it seems like its not possible due to cstate changing during boot time

If there is any clue or a fix I would really be appreciated

ATM I can't use windows at all so its more of a hardware issue or a firmware issue

Hi  @Anispwyn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how important it is to have your HP Victus operating reliably, especially when the system is unexpectedly rebooting and preventing you from using Windows normally. I'll be happy to help gather some additional information and suggest a few troubleshooting steps.

To better understand the issue, could you kindly confirm the following:

  • Does the system reboot only when idle, or can it also occur during normal usage or under load?
  • Are there any Blue Screen (BSOD) messages, error codes, or Event Viewer logs prior to the restart?
  • Have you run the HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics tests (System Test and Extensive Test)? If yes, were there any failure IDs reported?
  • Can you confirm whether Windows is able to boot into Safe Mode without restarting?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

1. Check for Hardware Diagnostic Errors - click here for steps

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Power it on and repeatedly tap F2.
  3. Open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  4. Run:
    • System Fast Test
    • System Extensive Test
    • Memory Test
    • Processor Test

If any test generates a Failure ID, kindly share it with us.

2. Disable Fast Startup

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Select Power Options -Choose what the power buttons do.
  3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  4. Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
  5. Save changes and restart the notebook.

3. Restore BIOS Defaults

  1. Restart the notebook.
  2. Tap F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  3. Select Load Setup Defaults.
  4. Save and Exit.

I hope this helps.

Hello Deep_World, thanks for responding

answering your question

- Yes, it does happen on underload too, but when doing something that uses tons of system resource it runs fine

- there is no bsod, it just reboots while booting (uefi screen and bootloader screen works fine)

- i have ran HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics tests, there are no errors

- i don't have windows installed, because in order to install you would need to boot the installer which also happens to randomly reboots

i've tried restoring default bios configuration and it seems to do nothing

i am not sure what to do from now on, only linux with idle=poll (more info here) works on my system

Hi @Anispwyn

Thanks for your response and Based on what you've shared, The notebook reboots even before Windows or a Linux installer can fully load, HP UEFI Hardware Diagnostics passes all tests with no failure IDsRestoring BIOS defaults did not help.

This suggests that the issue is not related to Windows, drivers, or software. The behaviour points to a problem occurring at a firmware (BIOS) or hardware power-management level, most likely involving CPU idle states, motherboard power regulation, or BIOS-level power management.

If the latest BIOS is already installed and the behaviour continues, I would recommend having the notebook inspected by an HP Authorized Service Center for further hardware evaluation, Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.
