HP ENVY 13-ba0010na Touchscreen Laptop Core i7
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi,

We recently bought two HP ENVY 13-ba0010na Touchscreen Laptops with Windows home pre-installed on them. I am trying to install Windows 10 pro on both Laptops but I can't boot them from a USB flash drive. The USB boot option  just would not appear on the boot menu of both laptops, even after disabling the secure boot and selecting USB as the primary boot option on the BIOS of both laptops. I think The problem is that the BIOS of the laptops does not have a legacy support option that I can enable so I can boot from the USB .

Could you please help solve this problem.

Many thanks

Hi:

I'm kind of glad you couldn't boot from the USB drive.

If you try to clean install W10 Pro, you will just end up with a clean install of W10 Home, because the W10 Home product key in the notebook's BIOS trumps any other product key you may have.

Here is how you upgrade from W10 Home to W10 Pro...Select the option that is applicable to your situation...

Upgrade using your digital license for Windows 10 Pro

To upgrade, select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Update & Security  > Activation .

Open Activation settings

  • If you have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Home is currently activated on your device, you'll see one of two messages when you select Go to Microsoft Store:

    • If you see Install, select the button to install Windows 10 Pro.

    • If you see Buy, you may need to purchase a Windows 10 Pro license. Or, try to sign in to Microsoft Store with the Microsoft account that was used to purchase the Pro license. Then, follow the instructions to install Windows 10.

  • If you have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, but Windows 10 Home isn't activated on your device, select Troubleshoot and then follow the instructions to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

Upgrade using a Windows 10 Pro product key
  1. Select the Start  button, then select Settings  > Update & Security  > Activation .

  2. Select Change product key, and then enter the 25-character Windows 10 Pro product key.

  3. Select Next to start the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.
