Hi . I have a problem and am not sure if it is a failing part or corrupt firmware updates or batman doing funny stuff.
The laptop in question has had the same problem 3 times in the last 6 months. The client would phone me, stating that laptop is not starting up with 2 long orange and 2 short white LED flashes. HP search indicated corrupt firmware so I did the Win + B key combo which worked the first 2 times. The third time I had to create a BIOS rescue usb key. The dates are 03 December 2024, 15 February 2025 and 12 April 2025 (very sporadic). All the other times the laptop works fine. I have checked the output voltage of the original charger used and measured 19.58V. I opened the laptop and measured the voltage when powering on, on the charge port pins, and the voltage drop was barely noticeable (0.03).
The client has lodged a claim at his insurance the replace the laptop, but they state that it is normal wear and tear that is the culprit and wear and tear is not covered in the policy. I must mention that the client uses his laptop everyday, weekends included, for work purposes (liaising with his staff and clients, structural design plan inspection and other general company work requirements). The current BIOS is F.38 Rev.A (latest).
Also need to mention that the client insisted that the ram module be replaced (just incase that is the problem)
