Let’s break down what this means and how you can manage it.

 

What the entry represents

  • USB hard drive: This indicates the system has detected a bootable USB storage device connected to your notebook.
  • VendorCoProductCode: This is a placeholder name generated by the BIOS/UEFI when the USB device does not provide a clear product identifier. Instead of showing the brand or model, it displays a generic string.

In short, it’s your notebook recognizing a connected USB drive as a potential boot option, but without a proper label.

 

Steps you can take

Check connected devices

  • Remove any USB drives or external hard disks.
  • Restart the notebook and re‑enter Boot Device Options to see if the entry disappears.

 

Identify the device

  • If you want to know which USB device is being detected, reconnect one device at a time and check the Boot menu.
  • This helps confirm which drive is showing up as “VendorCoProductCode.”

 

Adjust boot order if needed

  • Press F10 during startup to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to Boot Options and ensure your internal hard drive is set as the primary boot device.
  • Save changes and exit.

 

Use the USB intentionally

  • If you plan to boot from a USB (for example, Windows installation media), leave it connected and select it from Boot Device Options.
  • If not, simply remove the USB to avoid confusion.

The “VendorCoProductCode” entry is not an error—it’s just the BIOS showing a generic name for a USB drive. By checking connected devices and adjusting boot order, you can keep your notebook starting smoothly from the internal drive.
