I've had to do a Clean Install following problems with the Creators Fall WU last Tuesday. I re-installed my Support Assistant this morning and there were three updates shown. Having checked the Drivers updates by Creators Fall I assumed the HP updates had already been installed so deleted them.

My laptop is a bit sluggish but I put that down to the Clean Install and I have spent all day reinstalling software, files & folders etc.

I needed to reinstall my printer just now and in Control Panel there's an error exclamation mark against the laptop. It shows "Status: needs troubleshooting - driver is unavailable". The troubleshooter failed and now shows

Package ID: DeviceCenterDiagnostic

Error Code: ox8000FFFF

Context: Elevated.

(Sorry - I'm having problems inserting a photo.)

I've opened my HP Support Assistant but can't find the updates I deleted. Is there any other way that I can get them please? Is the old route to checking Updates still in place and if it is where is it please? (I've forgotten!)

Hi

Maybe Piriform Recuva.

Also Belarc Adviser can list missing updates so you can search for them individually.

Now I don't want to push you into anything hasty, but I have a Partition at the Backend of my HDD, and there sits a copy of W10 and HP Drivers.

If the hard disk fails then they are lost, but when MS do an update I have WiFi drivers where I can Find them.

I just shrank the last partition by about 10 Gb to allow for vital software.

Print Screen, Paint, Save As  *.png  works for me.

Thanks again Clint.

This get really silly! I've just received 8 messages on my HP Support Assistant, from when I reinstalled it i.e. it's treating me as a new customer. When I hovered over the dustbin icon it said "Delete and record in action log" - so there must be an action log, one assumes.

I then used the Search box in HP SA and found this link: but I couldn't find any mention of the action log, nor is there anything in My Services.

I don't recall ever having heard of an HP Passport Profile so thinking that perhaps I needed one I tried to set one up - but all I get is "server connection issue - please try again". Perhaps this is a server problem or perhaps it's simply a broken link but it's not at all impressive!

I'll calm down and get back later. Thanks for your interest - I wish the HP Tecnical team showed as much interest.

I still can't find the Action Log. Has anyone any idea where it is please?

When checking my Control Panel>devices for something else, I saw that this, my main laptop, was flagged as having a problem - missing driver. I ran the troubleshooter but that failed:

Can anyone advise me what I should now please. I haven't heard from the HP  Support Assistant about it!

I've resolved it. I added this laptop as an additional device - it removed the existing one and it now shows the Activity/Action Log. I've just installed these three updates and if I don't get back soon it will mean that there is now no 'missing driver' flag - fingers crossed.
