HP ELITEBOOK NOTEBOOK 840 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello! I have a 840 G1 EliteBook, I want it to boot as fast as possible. in my bios there is an option called "fast boot" It is gray and I cannot turn it on. It also says the reason: "Enabling Drivelock password or enrolling bios users\protectTools users will disable fast boot". DriveLock should be disabled, and I didn't understand what it said about protect Tools or enrolling bios users. what am I supposed to do in order to enable "fastboot" in my bios? I couldn't enable it no matter what I did. It is disabled and I don't know what to do in order to turn it on. just to be clear, I ***HAVE*** this option, but I just can't enable it, because: Enabling Drivelock password or enrolling bios users\protectTools users will disable fast boot". I already posted about this but I feel like the person answering isn't really listening to what I say. I would reallyy be happy for help. Thanks! 🙂 🙂 😄

@LazyLand

Your laptop comes in different models.  Some have SSDs.  Does yours have an SSD.  If not, THAT is the BEST way to speed up the boot process, and it will give you the most improvement.

Barring that, you can look into using FastStartup -- which is the MS Windows equivalent of Fast Boot.  It's a hybrid sleep option and thus, when your PC restarts, instead of reading the drive, it reads information stored in memory.

Also, I presume what you want is less time to the desktop, right? If that is the case, then go into Task Manager, Startup tab and disable all the tasks that are automatically started.
