Hello.
I'm using HP Envy 15-k207nx notebook for almost 2 years, it came with windows 8.1 and I updated to 10 soon after purchase. Everything was okay and the performance was smooth. However, it slowly started to be slower and laggier. Specially after startup or wake. It takes up to 2 minutes just to load before login. HP pass fingerprint sensor doesn't work at times. I recently updated to windows 10 creators update and everythings seems worse. I tried updating all my drivers and BIOS to the latest versions, downloaded the latest windows and hp assistant updates, uninstalling all unneeded programs and disabling all services that might slow the processor after at startup, but nothing seems to work.
Notebook: HP Envy 15-k207nx
Processor: Intel Core i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20 GHz
Memory: 12 GBytes DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500 - NVIDIA GeForce 840M
Thank you in Advance.

Hello @AbduTawfig
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.
Have you considered reinstalling Windows (performing clean installation) ?
Making reinstallation will fix the issues - giving a fresh clean start will probably help. Make sure you create a back up of your files/data before the reinstallation
Have you tested your hardware for issues ? Here is how (perform System tests - quick/fast tests) >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JXUp43ahHA
Since you previously performed upgrade from Win 8 to Win 10 on this very same computer and if you used Win 10 for a while and if Windows 10 was activated (it's licence was activated), then your computer has a Digital entitlement option stored on Microsoft servers. Because of this, you no longer need a code/lic key to activate Windows if you need to reinstall it. More info:
>> http://www.winbeta.org/news/digital-entitlement-a-new-method-of-activation-in-windows-10
You can directly download Windows 10 ISO from MS site or
download Media creation tool from Microsoft site, create installation DVD or installation USB and proceed with clean installation/reinstallation.
Download:
When download completes, you will need to write or "write" the ISO image and boot from a bootable media.
** How to create bootable ISO on USB device if you did not use Media Creation tool >> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows
example is with Ubuntu but the Win 10 ISO needs to be used
When ready with the USB drive:
* Load BIOS (F10)
* Ensure Secure Boot is disabled (might not be applicable for your model)
* Ensure Legacy mode is enabled (might not be applicable for your model)
* Save the UEFI/BIOS changes.
Details>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653226
Eventually, please, shutdown the computer using the power button.
Insert the Windows USB thumdrive
Power on the PC.
As soon as you press the power-on button, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).
This should open a HP Startup Menu
Choose F9 to open Boot options. Select the thumb drive as a boot option.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows 10
Install drivers taken from HP web site when Win installation completes or via Windows Update/Device Manager >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139
Hope this helps.

Hello sir
Thank you for your suggestion. I have performed a clean install and everything is running good. However, I hp SimplePass fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to work anymore. I downloaded the latest driver from the website, but I only end up getting the first installation window without proceeding to the fingerprint set up.
You also suggested that I test my hardware for issues. I have done so, and it came up with the error:
60E42J-7JT8MB-MFPWL1-60ST03)
Thank you for your patience and help.

Hi,
With regards to the fingerprint reader - I see the driver is dated back to August 2015 (almost 2 years old) which means it might not be compatible with the latest Windows 10 build 1703 (Creators update). If you followed the procedure above, you have the latest Windows version/build. Not sure what to recommend here other than trying to restore PC to factory default Windows 8.1
But there seems to be a bigger problem.
The error code you posted means Storage/HDD failure
Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure
Failure code 303
It's strange that you say that "everything is running good" because if the HDD is faulty your PC should be slower, should be freezing some time to time or it may not boot. Your data there is at risk of being lost.
With regards to the faulty hardware part - your options are:
If your computer is with warranty period expired, you will need to replace the faulty HDD - buy it on your own. There are variety of options - vendors you can choose from. You can get it online or from PC retail store, or from HP parts store http://partsurfer.hp.com/
You need HDD with the very same size as the current one or bigger (small will not work) - e.g. if your current HDD is with 1 TB capacity, your new HDD must also be 1TB or with bigger capacity. It is recommended that you purchase 7200 RPM HDD, not 5400 RPM
How to replace the faulty HDD with a new one: please, find info and instruction in your computer's manual or watch YouTube videos examples for your HP model.
Service and maintenence guide - page 47 (55) >>> http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03733656.pdf
If you do not want to do this on your own, please bring the computer (or ship it) to HP Authorized Service Center where the technicians will do this for you. If you are not sure where such a center is located, check these or contact HP for assistance in finding the nearest one for you:
>> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372730
>> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/store-finder/find.do?bs=SR4&type=authorized
Last part - once you replace the faulty component - you will need to reinstall back your operating system
Once you replace the HDD, you can reinstall Windows 10 using the instructions I posted before
or you may try restoring to Windows 8.1 - if you want Windows 8.1 I might be able to provide you some instructions. Let me know.
Hope this works for you
