I am seriously thinking of a class action against Microsoft, Intel and HP.

My Envy dv7 with Windows 8.1was working without any problems.  A message told me that I my machine was a good candidate to upgrade. I read everything I could on HP website, ran the compatibility test and went ahead. Immediately this problem came up with another one associated to WIFI stability. After at least 3 installs/roll-back I end up calling Microsoft support that seemed totally ignorant of this issue. After over a week of back and forth I was told that I had to roll-back because there was some incompatibility.

My next step was to buy a new hard-drive, and do a clean install of the original OS that came with the PC followed by the upgrades to Windows 8.1.  Forward a few weeks and the problem with shutting down the machine persists, now on Windows 8.1. I did all the suggestions I could find on the internet. Disable this, disable that and nothing seems to work.

Every couple of days, I get an insistent and annoying message from Microsoft suggesting that I upgrade to Windows 10. Of course, there is no simple way to disable such message without downloading some utility program.

The total lack of interest from the involved parties in solving the issue for the thousands of users affected by the problem, seems a reasonable case for a class action against them.

Tell me what you think?

Mine is working as well.  Tried most of the suggestions but disabling did the trick!

Found this solution on youtube.  Worked for my girlfriend's laptop:

https://youtu.be/bLtAUe56Ngw

Basically it just fast startup creating the problem.  To turn it off:

-Control Panel

-Power Options

-Change what the Power Buttons do

-Change settings that are currently unavailable

-Un-check "Turn on fast start-up (recommended)"

-Shut down computer using shut down option in start menu

The laptop immediately shut down normally when it never has using Windows 10 shut down option for since it was installed.  The laptop in question is an HP 4540s that originally had Windwos 7 Professional on it before the upgrade.  If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

*Go to start

*Right Click

* Open Device Manager

* Click System Devices

* Double Click ' Intel(R) Management Engine Interface

* Select Drivers

*Check weather version is over  9.5.24.  ....example ( 10.2.5) or 11.1.2

* you want Version { 9.5.24 }

* Try to click  ''Roll Back Driver'' to get earlier version

* If its disable you need to download Version 9.5.24 from intel website and install it manually.

* Now it should work!!!

Neither Helux777 or Spademide's solutions work for me - or I believe, for many others. Disabling the IEMI in Control Panel (aka settings) seems to be the only solution for the majority.
In the meantime the silence from HP and MS is deafening!

Seen it before, tried it, and as for many others - it does NOT provide a solution for me. AS I SAID BEFORE, THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR ME HAS BEEN DISABLING IEMS IN CONTROL PANEL.

Wanted a remedy from HP regarding the above subject.
