Hi, My son uses a HP Pavillion, when he came back to his laptop he had a message to shut down and restart, which he did. However while the Laptop was starting up this message appeared:
The Operating system did not shutdown cleanly
Reconstructing Cache metadata
Please do not interrupt this process
Reading Packed Metadata into memory ....Done
Processing Delta log record...... 46644
Failed to read Delta Log
Press <ESC> to continue.
When I press escape I get this message: Abnormal status reported by Rapid storage Technology UEFI driver.
I then went through to recovery area, troubleshoot and attempted to:
1) run start up repair - Error message to say startup repair cannot be completed.
2) undo updates - cannot be undone
3) Restore point - no restore points at all
4) open command prompt - scanned sfc and was able to fix errors. PC reboots and I get same message as at the start.
5)Change UEFI settings - Cannot run
I have created a window 11 iso usb, the installation begins but then cannot find any volumes on the disk. I then downloaded a file as .exe from hp with driver to allow drive partitions to show and no volumes can be seen, youtube videos show a different zip file being used from intel site but these seem to have been removed and updated with the .exe file I used. I also used the HP version of this file too, neither allowed the partitions on the drive to show and so the clean install could not progress further. I have run a detailed HP diagnostic scan which the hard drive passed as well as all other parts passed. I then tried updating the bios file from HP which completed successfully. I could still not load the recovery tools properly.
Also there seems to be options in the recovery screen missing, most importantly no option to reset PC I am also not able to start the pc in safemode!
I would be grateful for any help as I am at a complete loss now and stuck in a loop!

Hi:
Please post the full model number or product number of your notebook.
Use this guide to find that information...

You're very welcome.
The reason W11 can't find any drives when you go to clean install it is because you have to install the storage controller drivers needed for PC's with the Intel 11th gen core and newer processors.
I have zipped up and attached those files below.
Unzip the file to its folder and copy the folder to a USB flash drive.
Plug the flash drive and W11 installation media into your PC's USB ports.
Boot from the W11 installation media.
When you are at the screen where Windows can't find any drives, click on the Load driver option and browse to the USB flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.
If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.
Click Next, and hopefully W11 will install.
If that works and you want to factory reset the hard drive, rather than keep the clean installation, download and install the HP cloud recovery tool from the Microsoft Store and use it and a 32 GB USB flash drive, that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility...

If you want to retain the clean installation of W11, you can download the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Thank you for this Paul.
I did as you said and when prompted during install to load driver I opened the file which you sent me. Unfortunately, the driver partitions still do not show!?!
Can I use the Cloud tool to try a factory re-set even if the computer currently cannot boot up properly?
Kind regards
Shamila

You're very welcome, Shamila.
You can but there must be a different product number for your notebook besides the 464V0AV.
That product number returns many different individual 14-dv1000 model numbers as shown at the link below.
Look in your notebook's BIOS system information window and see if there is a specific model number and product number for your notebook.
You would need to use that product number in the tool's search window in order to create the recovery media using another PC.
I tried the 464V0AV#ABA product number in the tool's search window, and it came up as invalid.
The #ABA is for PC's sold in the United States.
Those additional characters including the # sign have to be included when you enter the product number in the search window.

Hi,
I have completed the cloud download and found the relevant product code. Upon trying to load the cloud recovery USB. I have a message from recovery manager:
Application Close
[info] No HDD
EEEKKK does this mean that the Hard Disk has been corrupted as well as some of the boot up files??

Yes, that is probably why none of the storage controllers found the drive when you clean installed Windows.
Run the hard drive diagnostics test (F2) and see what it reports.
You may have a totally dead NVMe SSD.
