I reset my PC yesterday as it was full of junk.
Once reset, I downloaded the HP assistant and tried to install the BIOS update. It stated that the system will restart after a successful installation.
It did shut down but then just hangs. Screen is blank.
The wi-fi light on the F12 key is on (orange)
The caps lock light is flashing intermittently
No beeps are heard.
I left it in this state for 30 minutes to make sure it wasn't still installing.
I then looked it up and found a suggestion to hard reset which I tried. It returns to the exact same state as described above.
Any clues how to get back into my notebook?

Hi @hardyrexion,
Good day. Welcome to the HP Community:) Hope you are doing well. 🙂 I understand that the unit does not work after a bios update and the caps lock light flashes I’ll be delighted to assist you with this.
Fabulous troubleshooting. Superb diagnosis of the issue as well before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 . It is paramount to address this for you. We definitely value your relation with HP and it is a privilege to share this platform with you.:)
For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.
- Please let me know the complete model# of the unit.
For starters please do a hard reset again Link for hard reset: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768
Then do not power on the computer just yet.
- Please visit this link to roll back the bios. (to restore the bios) Link for bios restoration: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02693833
- First, try this step “Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination” which should ideally do the trick for you. There is an associated video also on how to do it.
- If it does not please try the other step “Recovering the notebook BIOS using an external storage device”
Hope this helps. Let me know how this pans out. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

Hi@hardyrexion,
Thanks for the quick response. Did you download the bios to an external flash drive and try again?
If you have, then please contact HP phone support to get the unit serviced by visiting this link: http://hp.com/contacthp
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer's warranty should take care of repair services.
