My Notebook PC doesn't power on on pressing the power button and the LED of the DC power jack doesn't light when the power cord is connected. HP recalled the power cord of this laptop and sent me a replacement but there are no changes. HP deserves to ship me a new motherboard because I think the previous power cord destroyed my motherboard.

HI @einstein2,

I understand that you are not able to power on your notebook. When you connect the power cord the light next to the DC jack does not light up.  The original adapter was one that HP recalled and has replaced.

Did the replacement AC adapter work when you first acquired it? Are you connecting directly to an electrical outlet and not using a power/surge bar?

Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Testing and Using the AC Power Adapter.

Please keep me updated on your progress.

It stopped working when I was using the old power cord. Upon replacement with the new one, the laptop doesn't stil work. I tested the cord on another hp laptop and the it works perfectly. But not on mine. A technician told me that I need a new motherboard because the defective recalled cord might have caused damage to the motherboard.

Hi. Thanks. I was sitting for my end of semester engineering exam in campus when Miguel from HP called. He left a message on voice mail because phones are switched off in the exam room. He told me to call him through a certain number whose digits I didn't hear clearly. Please, send me the number again or just let him call me again in the afternoon after 1400hrs East African Time. I sit for exams in the mornings though I don't know how am gonna sit 4 certain exams like MATLAB simulation in Digital Signal Processing because my laptop is dead. Good day.
