Just wanted to jump back in with an update.  It's been about 11 days since I upgraded with this new NVidia driver and so far so good.  The system hasn't locked up once on me while on battery.  Very happy with the results so far.

Still, I did suffer two BSOD in two weeks, so it's not working 100% perfect, but I was connected to AC supply, and the symptoms were different (blue screen with error message about critical component error, IIRC), so it is a different issue.

Quick update :

- initial problem is definitely gone.

- other problem (weekly BSOD even on AC supply) disappeared once I stopped using my HP TB3 USB-C dock. So it is a completely distinct issue, which I do not care  enough about to try and investigate : for now I simply stopped using that dock and no single crash in weeks of heavy usage.

I can finally enjoy that laptop (but not the dock I bought with it. oh well.)

I don't have a doc so I haven't experienced the BSOD.
Since installing the updated video driver I've had no more freezing issues.
