@Affan013, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP 15.6 inch laptop.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If you are experiencing issues with your HP 15.6 inch laptop where the battery is not charging above a certain percentage, there could be several reasons for this behavior.

Possible Reasons

  1. Incorrect Charging Status Reporting: As noted in some HP laptop models like the HP 14, 15, and 15.6 series, there might be an issue with the battery charging status being incorrectly reported. This can sometimes show that the battery is not charging correctly.
  2. Battery Counterfeit Check Error: If you receive a counterfeit check error, it could indicate a compatibility issue or a problem with the battery itself.

Solutions

  • Update BIOS: One recommended solution for resolving battery charging issues is to update the system BIOS. HP periodically releases BIOS updates to address various issues, including battery charging problems.
To resolve the charging status issue, download and install the appropriate BIOS update for your device. Here are some links to the BIOS updates for specific models:
  • Inspect and Reinstall Battery: Occasionally, removing the battery and reinserting it can help reset the connection.
  • Power Cycle Your Laptop: Turn off your laptop, unplug it from the power source, remove the battery, and hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds. Reattach the battery, plug it back into the power source, and turn on your laptop.
  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system and any HP support software are up to date.

HP 14, 15, 15.6 Laptop PCs - Battery Charging Status May Be Incorrectly Reported

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
