I bought a HP 16-AC0009NS U7 -155U/32/1 W11. Worked well till the first update. After that Bluetooth with my Sony Home cinema didn’t function anymore. The Bluetooth still worked well with my old HP 15s-fq111ns. Brought it back and bought another HP 16- AC0009NS. Worked well till the first update. After that Bluetooth stopped working with the Sony Home cinema, worked well with the HP 15s. Help from a nerd told me I now have to pair the Home cinema every time I want to play music from the HP 16 AC. Still not necessary with the HP 15s.

In my opinion HP has a bug here, something you don’t expect from HP and which should be corrected

Hi @janvander

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how disappointing it feels when Bluetooth works perfectly at first and then suddenly becomes unreliable after an update, especially when you expect seamless playback with your Sony Home Cinema.

You’ve already put in a lot of effort by testing across different HP models, and I appreciate the detail you’ve shared—it helps us focus on the right steps to bring back that smooth wireless experience.

Steps to Improve Bluetooth Stability with Your HP 16-AC0009NS

Remove and Re-pair the Device

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
  • Remove the Sony Home Cinema from the paired devices list.
  • Restart your laptop, then re-pair the Home Cinema.
  • This clears any corrupted pairing profiles.

Check Bluetooth Services

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate “Bluetooth Support Service.”
  • Ensure it is set to “Automatic” and is running.
  • If stopped, right-click and select “Start.”

Update Bluetooth Drivers

  • Visit HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Enter your HP 16-AC0009NS model.
  • Download and install the latest Bluetooth driver available.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

Update Windows

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  • Install all available updates, including optional driver updates.
  • These updates often include compatibility fixes for Bluetooth devices.

Adjust Power Management Settings

  • Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
  • Expand “Bluetooth.”
  • Right-click your Bluetooth adapter > Properties > Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
  • This prevents disconnections when the system tries to save energy.

Test with HP App Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App on your laptop.
  • Go to Support > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Run the tool—it checks for driver conflicts and resets Bluetooth functionality.

Confirm Codec Compatibility

  • Some updates change the Bluetooth audio codec used.
  • In Sound settings, check your headset or speaker properties.
  • Ensure the default format is set to a standard option (like 16-bit, 44100 Hz).
  • This helps maintain stable pairing across sessions.
