hello, i want to install linux mint instead of windows, i used balena etcher since rufus didnt recognize my usb drive, i wanted to disable secure boot but everytime i disable it and hit save and exit, it re-enable itself. also, i cant find legacy boot

update: found "https://fixedit.itxpress.biz/2014/06/27/secure-boot-wont-stay-disabled/" and now secure boot is disabled, but i still cant find legacy boot and my external hdd isnt showing up in f9

Windows 11 only supports UEFI mode, not legacy mode. Therefore, HP notebooks that come with W11 preinstalled from factory don't have a legacy support option in the BIOS.

 

!5-fc0xxx models come with W11 or FreeDOS, so your BIOS has no legacy support setting.

 

If I remember correctly, Linux Mint Debian installs in the UEFI mode. I suggest that you go to Linux Mint forum for more help.
