That's unfortunate.

We cannot help -- we are a user forum.

We cannot give legal advice nor can we advocate on your behalf.

If you purchased the device from the online HP Store,

Then

The HP Store Customer Service should certainly be contacted.

HP Store Customer Service - Examples

HP Store Customer Service - USA

For example:  Self-Help Service, Account, Security and Privacy, Tracking, Change Order, Returns and Cancellations, FAQ, Shopping, Shipping and delivery, Rebates / Coupons, Product Support, Parts and services

Product Returns – USA

Includes Chat (where available) and phone number contact

 HP.com Returns - USA

OR

HP Store - UK - Customer Service - Contact the Store

Under “I’m looking to buy…” > Select Home Products

Under “I would like to…” > Select Contact a product specialist before I buy

OR

HP Store – Australia – Contact the Store - Customer Service

Select a subject type

OR

HP Store – India - English

HP Store – India – Contact the Store - Customer Service

Select Home and Home Office products > (Next) Select the type of order / information you seek

Device purchased from other than HP

My opinion:

Retailers are independent operations, even an authorized reseller who sell a particular brand of device.

Ideas

  • If you are having trouble with a merchant, check the retailer's online policies first.
  • If there is such, complain to the merchant's customer service department.
  • If the product is within the store's return period and the return policy allows it, return the product to the store for a refund.
  • If that does not work, check with your local consumer protection agencies to see whether there is any recourse.
