Hi @robbej,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing those details. I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop doesn’t power back on normally, especially when you're expecting it to just wake up and get back to work. Let's walk through a few steps to help resolve the issue with your HP 14-dq0000 Laptop PC (56Z60AV).

1. Check Power Settings

  • Press Windows + X > select Power Options.
  • Click Additional power settings > Choose what closing the lid does.
  • Make sure “When I close the lid” is set to Sleep for both Battery and Plugged in.
  • Click Save changes.

2. Update BIOS and Drivers

3. Disable Fast Startup (optional but helps in some cases)

  • Press Windows + R, type Control, and press Enter.
  • Go to Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup > Save changes.

4. Hard Reset (you’ve done this, but here’s the proper method)

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Unplug the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and try powering it on normally.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
