Happy New Year!

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have a Compaq Presario CQ56-131SF Notebook. I read that the laptop powers on and the screen is blank. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

Did any hardware changes take place on the PC?

Did any software changes or updates happen on the PC?

Do you see any lights that are blinking on the keyboard or the PC?

Are you using the same Win7 that came with the laptop or have upgraded to newer version fo Windows?

While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Power off the laptop.
  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
  • Power ON the laptop.

You may also refer to this HP document that helps in fixing such no boot issues in Windows 7.

Also, please attempt a BIOS rollback if the above steps fail to resolve this issue.

I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Let me know. All the best! 🙂
