CQ 56
Linux

My old CQ 56 laptop has died. Although 10 years old, it was still speed enough for most of its jobs, so I would like to repair it even though I own much more recent HP laptops.
Here is the symptom:
When I switch it on, caps key led repeatedly blinks with a period of 3 seconds: one second is on and two seconds is off, and WIFI light stays continuously red. Screen stays blank, and Bios won't start. I tried to connect an external monitor, I substituted the bios battery and I removed HD too (since in the last days I experienced a problem with it), but nothing changed.
I tried to identify the problem by following the procedure described in https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01732674, but I did not find any description of this blink sequence and I found no solution.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

Hi
Depending on the age of the PC and the BIOS vendor...

Remove the Wi-Fi adapter?

CPU is a remote possibility and/or its cooling/thermal transfer.

Following your link I found the symptom: in this old laptop 1 long blink should correspond to the failed CPU. Thanks!
