Hi @eddymakafui,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for explaining the issue—this sounds like a power-on failure with no display, which could be caused by several hardware-related problems. Here are a few steps on how to troubleshoot it:
Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop and unplug the charger.
- If the battery is removable, take it out.
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and charger, then try turning it on.
Step 2: Check RAM
- Open the back panel (if accessible).
- Remove the RAM stick(s), clean the contacts gently, and reinsert them.
- If you have two sticks, try booting with one at a time.
Step 3: Try External Display
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV via HDMI.
- If the external display works, the issue may be with your laptop screen or backlight.
Step 4: BIOS Recovery
Some HP laptops support BIOS recovery:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B until you hear beeps or see the screen light up.
Step 5: Listen for Beep Codes or LED Flashes
- HP laptops often use beep codes or blinking LEDs to indicate hardware issues.
- Count the beeps or flashes and let me know—I can help decode them.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @VikramTheGreat, Thanks very much for ur reply to my enquiry, i have gone through all the steps but still the same issue, what i realized is that the moment i connect the charger, the laptop comes by itself and you see the caps lock blinking with
f5 and F6 orange light on. after which you will hear the spanning of the fan for some time and stop with the laptop going off.

Hi @eddymakafui,
Thank you for letting me know. This looks like a Mechanical issue. Please try to run a hardware test and let me know if you get any failure or what message you get.
Extensive Test -
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.
Take care and have a good day.
