Hello,
2 years ago in order to activate virtualization, a bios password was asked to be given. Since then, i used it and never went back inside the bios again. Now, have a clock issue in windows 8.1 and linux when the laptop is not connected to the network. Could you please help me restet this password please? CND02910YP

Hi,
Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

DP-K

thank you! for the safe way, i got a file number and will contact them. For those who have got the same issue in a simpler way, REO proposed another solution in M317842, in fact it is working for 8530w and for 8540p but 8540w is not listed inside the image boot while it is listed inside the post as supported.
