hello,
to start a live-linux (debian, fat32) about a bootable usb stick it's necessary to enable uefi boot, but when i tried that a window opened with a warning text:
to update the bios isn't possible, because there is no driver from hp available

Heres a BIOS update for this machine.
The latest BIOS is Version F.66 released Feb 22, 18

hey,
and many thank's!
you're shure that the driver works also with ws 10?
the last supported system is ws 8....
another question about the login to this forum: every time i login there are problems (incorrect password!), and the resetting emails will not be sent. i have the same problem in german hp-forum! can you please tell me what's going on?

hey Dudefoxlive,
i'm very unsure if i should do the bios upgrade. yeserday i tried - as a test, two of the other offered drivers (camera, usb hub) to install, both did not work. i read that one - if the bios upgrade fails, can perform a recovery of the old one....
but it often comes to big problems!
do you have experiences with such problems?

I have not had a BIOS update fail yet but usually i recommend not updating the BIOS unless there is some patch or feature that you can really use. I would not really worry about UEFI boot as I usually disable it to install Windows 7.

the reason why i like to upgrade the bios is that i can't boot a fat32 usb stick with a debian distribution!
what other problem could it be than an old bios without uefi? in this bios uefi boot can be activated but there is a window with warning:

How did you create the USB?
i downloaded the iso file and the universal usb installer
the stick works very well on my dell desktop pc.....! why not on the hp book?
i think that anything is wrong in the bios settings. do you know yourself well with the peculiar bios of this notebook? I could send you screenshots

Try using Rufus to create a Bootable USB.
